About Me

Latest Update to this page: 10/14/2013

Greetings, my name is Ken, and I am 30 years old. I have bounced around in numerous customer service related jobs starting with Concessionist and Usher at an AMC Movie theater, and ending with working in a call center for Safety First, a third party driving monitoring service for trucking companies and insurance companies. Currently, I am unemployed, and due to the economy am attempting to learn a new trade in my spare time.

I have enjoyed history and creative writing for as long as I can remember. I enjoy learning, even if my school records were not all that great. I attribute this mainly to the fact that I was not interested in everything that was taught at school, and branched off to my own study even when I should have been focusing on the classwork at hand. I have no regrets though. Not as far as my school days go, anyway. I have made many stabs at writing all through my life, even as a child. Nothing has been published, especially because I haven’t made any attempts to have anything published. I wrote earlier on simply for the enjoyment of writing and exploring the imagination in my mind. Among the authors I’ve read and liked, and to a degree consider my inspirations, are J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Terry Brooks, Clive Cussler, Jim Butcher, Robert Jordan and there are others; some well known, some obscure. Mainly, I like to read, and write, about fantasy-fiction and science-fiction.

I’m also a gamer, and have played a few games in my time. I can’t claim to have the devotion of some of my friends, who have sources to these games that I have no idea where it comes from, but since 2001, I have been involved in Massively Multi-Player Online games. I started with a game called Shadowbane, then went back and looked at older games like Ultima Online and Diablo II, then went ahead and looked at games like City of Heroes/City of Villains, Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and most recently, Skyrim and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Before Shadowbane, the only computer games I touched were Real-Time Strategy games such as Starcraft and the Age of Empires series of games. It was a Strategy Game titled Battle Realms that eventually led me to Shadowbane. Aside from the aforementioned games, I have even done some Alpha Testing on Rift, but after they went into Beta testing, I haven’t logged in. I was also invited to betas for DC Universe Online, Starcraft II, and Age of Conan, but due to circumstances, never actually did the testing.

I also enjoy anime. Due to my love for history, my absolute favorite anime is Rurouni Kenshin. I have seen most of the series (up to the end of the Kyoto arch, with Shishio Makoto) and have the manga for the whole series. I have also seen Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal and a Rurouni Kenshin motion picture. (I forget the subtitle for the motion picture, but they used a different voice actor for Kenshin in it, than in the series, and they weren’t as good.) Trust and Betrayal I think was my favorite part of the whole Rurouni Kenshin Saga, but I love it all. I have other anime I like, but that one just grabs me the most.

Anyway, that’s what I have to say about me, for now, and I hope you all enjoy reading about my story, and actually reading it eventually. Till then, see ya!

  1. Hey,

I wanted to say thanks for leaving the comments on my recent blog post at the Girl Plays WoW. I wanted to ideally email you back, but not found a link to a contact address for you.

I think this is a great blog, and I shall be adding it to my blogroll and subscribing. I don’t have all my recent raid notes on the computer, most are hand written – as even in the day of all this technology I’m much more a fan of handwriting than typing, but i do have one on the computer so if you want to drop me an email at francesca_wow@yahoo.co.uk, i’ll happily send you a copy.

I doubt that next time I’ll raid, i’ll go into so much depth of revision, but I’m the sort of person who hates to feel like i’ve failed (bit of a perfectionist) so it makes me happier if I feel i’ve revised as much as I possibly can.

The good news is that since the raid went so well and we got 3/12 on normal in one night that its going to become regular Tuesday raid run and possibly a Sunday afternoon, so there should be many more raiding posts which is what i initially started the blog with the aim of it becoming.

My UI was actually set up for me by another woW blogger in America, we chatted on vent and he talked me through setting everything up, i made a few changes since then but esentially I’m using Pitbull, Vudho (for my raid), Quartz, Miks Scrolling battletext, power aura, elkano buffbar, bagnon, bartender, DBM, sexy map, prat…and possibly more that I cant remember off the top of my head. Took me a while to get used to it once it had been changed…but in an older pst on the blog you can see how erractic and crowded it was before the change.

best of luck with getting your shaman in the raids

    Francesca
